What Florida requires for an LSV
Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, side and rearview mirrors, seat belts for every seat, a windshield, reflectors, a horn, a VIN, and registration with a license plate. The cart must be capable of at least 20 mph but no more than 25 mph. We handle the equipment build and point you through the title/registration steps.
Golf cart vs. LSV — which do you need?
If you only drive inside a gated community or on designated cart paths, a standard cart may be all you need. If you want to cross or drive public streets — to the store, the school, the beach — you want the LSV build. Many customers buy a standard cart now and have us convert it later.
Lithium + street legal: the ideal neighborhood vehicle
Our most popular build pairs the LSV package with a lithium battery upgrade: 25 mph, 35+ miles of range, full lighting, and zero battery maintenance. It replaces a second car for school runs and errands at a fraction of the cost.

FAQ
Are golf carts street legal in Florida?
Standard golf carts are limited to designated areas, but a cart upgraded to LSV spec — lights, signals, mirrors, seat belts, windshield, VIN, and registration — can legally drive on most Florida roads posted 35 mph or less.
How much does it cost to make a golf cart street legal?
Our LSV equipment packages typically run $1,200-$2,500 installed depending on the cart and what it already has. Carts sold already street-legal show it in the listing. Call (954) 350-0440 for a quote.
Do I need insurance for a street legal golf cart in Florida?
Yes — registered LSVs require PIP and property damage liability coverage, like any registered vehicle. Most insurers offer inexpensive LSV policies.
How fast can a street legal golf cart go?
Florida LSVs must do between 20 and 25 mph. We tune the build to hit the legal window — quick enough for neighborhood streets, still legally a low-speed vehicle.
